Objective

Production Experience

  • Locations Agent, International Stock, promoting extensive filming locations (2006-). Also establishing affiliate production company and network.
  • Producer, Designer, Prisons Induction CD for HMP Hewell Grange (2006-).
  • Creative Director, IQK, offering assistance to varied creative projects (2006-).
  • Directing and production guidance to produce original radio drama in prisons for BBC WM’s unique prisons project (2006). *Put forward for Gillard award by BBC WM.
  • Member, BBC WM Local Advisory Council (2005-6), advising BBC programming.
  • 10 features for BBC WM, on faith and the story of the Castle Vale area (2004-5); Topical ‘vox populi’ for BBC Radio Five Live on supercasinos (2005).
  • Voices of the Vale half-hour commemorative CD exploring the history of Castle Vale (North Birmingham) for Castle Vale Housing Action Trust (2004), earning praise from minister Lord Rooker (ODPM). *600 copies produced and distributed.
  • A People’s History of Castle Vale series for Castle Vale Community Radio, introduced by Carl Chinn who hosted a live BBC WM event for the series (2004).
  • Placements at Radio 1, Scott Mills Show - producing comical Celebrity Calls and other entertainment features, also work for Newsbeat, Jo Whiley & Playlisting (2004)) - and at BBC WM, Adrian Goldberg Breakfast Show (2005).
  • Co-Director, Press Officer, Co-Producer, Mistero Buffo for New Matrix Productions, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2004. *‘Physically intense, exact and compelling’ Three Weeks.
  • Producing & presenting student soap opera Lenton Boulevard at URN 1350 (2002-3) and its successful Radio 1 Student Radio Awards entry. *Promotional pack available.
  • Broadcast Assistant, BBC Radio Nottingham: clipping interviews for news bulletins; research; taking calls; assisting colleagues (2003).
  • Covering current affairs and reviewing for leading student radio station (URN 1350) and at Castle Vale Community Radio in Birmingham (Vale FM). *Demos available.

Writing & Editing Experience

  • Scriptwriter, Silver Street - lively daily drama series for BBC Asian Network, exploring life in a cosmopolitan British Asian community. 50 episodes written, including special ‘focus week’ with flashbacks over five decades (2004-). Also storylining & compiling ‘Story So Far’ writers’ update document. *Race in the Media Award 2006, Mental Health in the Media Award 2005 & nomination 2006.
  • New adaptation of Dario Fo’s ‘Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!’ for New Matrix Productions, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006.
  • Script editing and guidance for BBC WM prisons radio drama (see above), 2006.
  • Professionally editing scripts and advising new writers for Arts Council group The Radio Rep (2005-); also production guidance.
  • Co-Founder and Head Writer, Lenton Boulevard - innovative and unique soap opera, exploring the modern student experience for URN 1350 (2002-3): blending comedy & drama, realism & satire.
  • Editing & writing scripts; managing & training up to 10 writers. 17 weekly episodes produced; also hosted by BBC Nottingham website. *Best Entertainment Show 2003, Radio 1 Student Radio Awards. Promotional pack available.
  • Author, Haze, “innovative action farce” play for 2003 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Also playing title role to critical acclaim and co-producing the show. ‘Promising, quirky’ The Scotsman; ‘Refreshing, thought-provoking’ Fest.
  • Writer and Editor, online satire Trash FM (www.geocities.com/darchus) (1999-2001).
  • ‘Living at U.C.E. Perry Barr’ booklet for The University of Central England (2004).

  • 1993-2000: Bournville School & Sixth Form Centre: A Levels: History (A), Mathematics (A), General Studies (A), English Literature (B) (June 2000).
    GCSEs: 10 subjects, including A* Double Science, History, French; Grade A in all others, including Graphic Products, German and Mathematics (July 1998).
