Digital Editing

Ian has worked at length with many of the leading industry digital editing suites, and been introduced to most of the rest. Even if your organisation uses software not mentioned here, Ian can expect to quickly become proficient in it given a few basic pointers. And if you don't have access to this equipment but think you might need it, IQK may be able to arrange it for you.

Adobe Audition/CoolEdit Pro

I was first introduced to this software in 1999 and have been using it frequently since 2002. In it I've been able to produce interviews (URN 1350), documentaries (Vale FM), features (for BBC WM), demos, soundtracks (Haze) and more.

Radioman

The standard basic editing suite for many BBC stations and others, I've been using Radioman regularly since 2003. I've used it to produce features (BBC WM), clip interviews for news bulletins (BBC Radio Nottingham) and vox pops (Five Live, BBC WM).

VCS

I got used to using this audio editing suite at Radio 1 in 2004, clipping films for Scott Mills' Celebrity Calls and compiling tracks and voiceovers for the Summer Hijack (in Jo Whiley's show). I did strike a chord with one of Jo Whiley's team when I mentioned how much I preferred Audition though!

Final Cut Pro

I've attended an official Apple demo of the latest versions their increasingly popular digital video editing suite, and will be properly trained in how to use it at the Technology Innovation Centre (U.C.E.) soon.

Avid   Avid is the most widespread video editing system in the industry, and I used it to produce the IQK Studios showreel video with the help of Technology Innovation Centre, having been introduced to it by them. I have shadowed an online edit using the system at Maverick TV (Ten Years Younger).

Sadie

I've been introduced to the program in BBC Birmingham's Radio Drama studios, and often watched it being used to record radio drama in my presence (Silver Street, The Archers).

Audacity

I've been introduced to this at CUR 1350 (Cambridge University Radio).
