IQK Fees & Guarantees...
Consulting IQK is completely free, and even if Ian cannot help you further he will be able to give you suggestions to help you take your project forward. The rates offered below are only really relevant if you're already clear about what you would like Ian to do for you (having read all the relevant pages of this website, and ready to get started immediately). And even if that is the case, all rates are potentially negotiable depending on the nature of the project and ability to pay, especially if Ian thinks the work will be sufficiently beneficial to IQK in other ways. |

Quality, flexibility & value |
|
You'll be pleased to know that IQK always aims to beat the industry going rates and will tailor the service to your needs and resources, and make guarantees of quality and punctuality for the work. As the conditions of work vary within each project, these can vary but only if agreed by both IQK and the client. |

GUARANTEES... |
|
As the conditions of work vary within each project, these can vary but only if agreed by both IQK and the client. But in general, IQK promises to do everything that can reasonably be expected to...
- Achieve distinctive and enjoyable works for all clients, which will be of interest to a wider audience.
- Not spend longer on the project than it genuinely needs, especially if charging for it.
- Not to charge for services or actions which are not genuinely relevant to the client's objectives.
- To avoid mumbo-jumbo and blinding science in all discussions and correspondence. If you're unsure about something, tell me so and I'll try to make it clearer!
- Be good-natured, professional and personable at all times, without overstepping the mark.
- Work successfully with all partners, colleagues and volunteers that clients would like me to (as far as possible).
- Anticipate the sort of challenges that the project raises and the pitfalls it may be subject to, and make the client aware of these before they arise and begin to affect the project.
- To make the client better able (or aware) to achieve projects of this sort in the future.
If the outcome of the commissioned work is not acceptable to the client, a proportion of any fee may be waived, depending upon...
- Whether the product is useable for its original purpose.
- Whether IQK has failed with regard to any specific objectives for the project which had been agreed between IQK and client in advance of making it.
- Whether the completed work IQK has achieved could realistically have been achieved regardless of IQK's professional input.
- Whether or not IQK can realistically be held responsible for any unexpected matters arising in the course of the project that affect its outcome.
- Whether IQK has failed in any of its recognised commitments to the client and the project.

General rates
(can be negotiable) |
|
- To email IQK and get Ian's reply of what he could do for you - no charge.
- To have a full discussion on your work if you're interested in what IQK can offer to it - no charge (up to a half-hour discussion).
- To have a full discussion to advise you on your work if you're not interested in IQK becoming directly involved in it - £30 (for a half-hour discussion; £50 if you wish to meet in person in the West Midlands).
- A half day's work (under 4 hours) - £160
- A whole day's work (over 4 hours) - £300
- A single week's work (under 6 days) - £1000
- Longer or ongoing projects open to discussion, but likely to yield substantial savings over these rates. (In terms of time spent and the effort or planning required, long-term or part-time projects are a lot easier for IQK to manage than short-term ones.)

|
Writing |
|
- For new original drama for your purposes, Ian charges £350 per ten minutes of script produced (depending on how much additional time it may require to establish what is required). This is less than his typical BBC pay and does not apply to pre-existing series or drama strands, whose rates will already be established and non-negotiable.
- For other work, Ian charges £350 per 1000 words or thirty lines of poetry.

|
|
Editing scripts or other works |
|
- Obviously, will vary depending on the length and degree of completion of the work submitted to IQK.
- To advise a writer on their work at the concept or incomplete draft stage, Ian offers a half-day service of £160 including analysis of the submission and a half-hour telephone discussion upon it - unless IQK's involvement is limited to a simple telephone call (up to 30 minutes), in which case a £50 charge may apply.
- Ian charges £300 for a day's attention to a draft, including a half-hour phone discussion with the writer.
- To adapt and revise scripts personally (such as to bring them up to professional standards of layout and useability), Ian charges the same rates, subject to the writer and IQK agreeing the amount of work to be adapted and the timescale.

Radio & Audio Production |
|
- For each half day's work, the charge is typically £160.
- For each full day's work, the charge is typically £300.
- If the project you're looking for doesn't readily slot into clear timeslots, open discussions with enquiries@iqkennedy.co.uk and explain your situation.
|
| |
|
|
Community projects |
|
- Depends entirely on how long the project is likely to run, its size and outputs, and the extent of Ian's involvement and responsibility within the project; but IQK is keen to keep his charges as low as possible for worthwhile community projects (although if this is the case they may have to take a lower priority from IQK than other work). Email enquiries@iqkennedy.co.uk to get the ball rolling.

|
Other options |
|
- If there's anything you're thinking about which isn't mentioned here, IQK takes a flexible approach. As a general guide, consider the day and half-day rates above as a ball-park figure; but don't get too concerned about fees until you've discussed the nature of the work and your expectations with IQK.
