In the spotlight

New and unpublished work - Ian Kennedy

The majority of Ian's writing to date has yet to be published or performed. This page is here to promote a few of these works - without giving away too much! Of course, Ian keeps signed and dated print copies of his work to protect his rights anyway, but it can't hurt to be cautious...

More detailed accounts and samples of these works will follow in due course, when Ian is in a position to promote them further. Download special extracts below (PDF format) and if you're interested in any of these works at this time -email enquiries@iqkennedy.co.uk explaining who you are and we'll see what we can do...

Alternatives title

Ian's proposed web series Alternatives blends elements of soap operas, social commentary and topical blogs. It offers the opportunity for readers to interactively try to create their ideal government and see it through the challenges we may be facing ten years from now. More generally, the series explores British life and "all that we are and can be", through the lives of a group of young characters beginning to make their way in the world.

Ian aims to license the series (which will be published in both daily and fortnightly passages) to online content providers, whose pages need to be constantly updated but often have little original and distinctive material to promote. Ian has already written around 150 fast-moving entries for the opening of the series. An Alternatives section will open on this website in due course.

Artifis title

Ian's lyrical new play Artifis is described as "what you might get if Shakespeare, Wilde and Orwell were locked in a cellar with for a week with a typewriter". Ian is giving priority to promoting Alternatives at this time, but if you or your organisation is interested in this play please contact enquiries@iqkennedy.co.uk

A Mortal Universe

In progress since 1997, Ian's epic novel saga takes human life to the very extremes, exploring our place in the universe and the alternatives to life as we know it. Rather than lapsing into sci-fi cliche, A Mortal Universe aims to bring credibility, emotional depth and literary quality to a genre often considered nerdish or fantastical. It is around 850 pages long in total at this stage (in three novels) and Ian intends to adapt and promote it when he has the reputation to back up its ambitious premises.

Poetry

Ian's poetry often takes unexpected or disconcerting points of view, in order to explore the things that make life beautiful and complex. A few examples are published here as curiosities.
